Lauren Can your team write a template with all these tools, copyright limits, etc., so that instructors can include in their syllabus?
Leonard B Taylor
11:04
Good recommendation, I've taken note and we'll work on providing it.
Erin Conlisk
11:42

Frank Ramos

Please feel free to ask a question during this presentation if you need amplification or clarification
Allison Hedge Coke
13:17
Yes, please
Allison Hedge Coke
15:58
Sorry, the talk is great, the speed of fluidity is tough for me to keep up with, will all of this be posted on Keep Learning?
Allison Hedge Coke
16:21
Thank you
Frank Ramos
18:57
Yes.
Allison Hedge Coke
18:57
yes

General FYI - XCITE is working on getting license for Canvas. It is expected to be available this summer.
Maureen Gateas
19:35
Can you choose between canvas and blackboard for the summer? I'm familiar with canvas, but not with blackboard. What does blackboard provide that canvas does not? Or visa versa?
Logan Collier
19:58
Blackboard is iLearn, correct?
Vanessa Ament
21:08
I have worked on both and I can assist in your transitions if you like. They have different strengths and styles. BB is more linear, Canvas is more intuitive and creative
Maureen Gateas
23:03
I am definitely interested in this if I would have to teach using ilearn/blackboard.
Vanessa Ament
25:10
All of this will be made more clear over the next few weeks. Do not be concerned. Our trainings will be methodical, planned, platformed, and they will make sense. You will feel empowered and competent.
Miguel H Lopez
25:51
Thank you for the reassurance Vanessa, that helps!
Vanessa Ament
26:38
We will make all of this more clear. I am a faculty and pedagogical liaison…this is a great way for us to thrive and expand pedagogical art
Logan Collier
30:44
How do we sign up for the trainings?
Leonard B Taylor
31:22
email me your name and interest. I have a running list. leonard.taylor@ucr.edu
Maureen Gateas
32:22
I received an email about this session via the vice-chair of teaching of our department, but wasn't in the original email. I received an email about canvas earlier this week. Will I be in included in the next email list?
Logan Collier
33:40
I am in the same boat as Maureen. The chair of my department informed me about this webinar as well, but I wasn't on the email list.
Leonard B Taylor
36:05
I've been working off of the list of instructors that are being submitted for summer instruction. Unfortunately, there is a bit of lag in getting the names to me.
Erin Conlisk
36:18
I imagine I am getting ahead of myself, but one thing I will want to do in my cohort is find an alternative to "clickers", or an assessment of retention.
Allison Hedge Coke
36:23
Looking forward. I have taught online off and on since about 2007-8, but want to be on what is happening with UCR’s latest way of approaching and new ideas and such. Looking forward to what this team has for us.
Vanessa Ament
36:52
Very excited to have both newbies and experienced educatiors
Maureen Gateas
37:30
brand new to UCR teaching, but not brand new to teaching
Miguel H Lopez
37:43
Lauren, there is a recording feature on Zoom. Is there a way to upload that recording on to iLearn for students to view?
Margarita Curras-Collazo
38:35
As an alternative to clickers you can use Play posit program within iLearn to incorporate questions into online lectures
Logan Collier
38:48
Is it recommended to upload videos of prerecorded lectures rather than doing them live?
Timothy Ballard
38:56
I’ve had problems accessing library sources and also with Zoom breakout rooms. I’ve had ITS take over my screen tp try to help me, but they were problems: at this point, I still am not connected to the library databases. One question is if it is that I have an I-Mac.
Maureen Gateas
40:17
why is it not recommended to upload videos straight to ilearn or canvas (storage limited?)
Vanessa Ament
40:52
Depending on the license Canvas has for UCR, there are ways to upload videos
Vanessa Ament
41:22
But I am not clear which license we are getting…I used many videos as a film studies person, but we will find this out for you
Miguel H Lopez
41:33
Thank you! Very helpful!
Maureen Gateas
41:47
yes, very helpful information
Vanessa Ament
41:59
Regarding lectures: Let me find out how this will work…I suspect we will have a way for you to both
Timothy Ballard
42:18
Sure, thank you.
Vanessa Ament
42:20
I know we are looking at a platform specifically for lecturing…we will keep you posted
Vanessa Ament
42:55
Sorry we do not have enough answers for you to feel secure about how this will work, but this will be handled. Xcite is on all of this like fleas on a dog....
Leonard B Taylor
47:54
Also, if you have questions that you'd like covered during these Q&A webinars, please email them to me. leonard.taylor@ucr.edu
Maureen Gateas
49:21
I see half or so of the links on that same website?
Lauren Horn Griffin
50:11
Maureen, are you on Keep Learning or Keep Teaching? These are at Keep Teaching (Learning has only the student-relevant ones)
Lauren Horn Griffin
50:17

Maureen Gateas
50:49
Sorry. Yes was apparently on the wrong site. Thanks
Lauren Horn Griffin
51:16
Feel free to ask questions here in the chat!
Logan Collier
51:58
Do you recommend prerecording lectures vs having a live video in Zoom?
Logan Collier
53:11
Fantastic. Thank you!
Alessio Olivieri
53:20
Thanks Leonard!
Allison Hedge Coke
53:21
